BALANGAY DIG SITE title : BALANGAY DIG SITE, type : 1, description : This is the site where eleven (11) balangay boats were originally discovered in the 1970’s. Excavation for boat No.4 commenced in 2012 and to the amazement of the archaeological team headed by Dr. Mary Jane Louise A. Bulonia, another much larger boat appeared on its side. Nickname “The Mother Balangay”, it is estimated to be around 800 years old and more than 25meters long with planks as wide as a human chest and dowels with the diameter of soda cans.
